This is an interesting question and I am not sure what you mean- Do you mean what teaching strategies would a teacher use to teach poetry? or Do you mean what types of comprehension strategies can children learn through poetry?
My students love poetry and read it every single day- it is usually their favourite choice durning DEAR time. Their favourites are the books edited by Bruce Lansky (he has a great web-site- you can google his proety pages). The stratgies I teach with poetry are making inferences and visualising and also poetry is a great tool for teaching fluency as it has great rhythm. ________________________________________ From: [email protected] [[email protected]] On Behalf Of Intsar Ali [[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, April 12, 2009 3:33 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [MOSAIC] Poetry What type of strategy would an effective teacher use when teaching poetry in the lower elementary grades? _______________________________________________ Mosaic mailing list [email protected] To unsubscribe or modify your membership please go to http://literacyworkshop.org/mailman/options/mosaic_literacyworkshop.org.
