I wood definitely want to start after the first 4-6 weeks. You do not need to
have center time be a long time -- start out small but you are smart to want to
teach them the value of each center and procedures. You are directing the
routine and the engagement. They need to be active and involved so getting them
trained and in the centers gives you that few minutes to get more
individual/small group time even if (at first only 10-15 minutes in length)

Subject: [MOSAIC] Guided reading

Hello!

A curious question - when do you start guided reading for your kindergarten
students? I teach in Florida - title 1 school - many children of speakers
of other languages - usually about half a class that has never been to a
Pre-K program or any type of school environment - I find my students need
quite some time being trained on how to use centers properly - I want to get
started as soon as possible but didn't know if there was a "better" time of
year - opinions? Thanks!
