I am using Book Bingo this year for the first time. They have to complete
one bingo each nine weeks. I just handed them out and went over them with
them today. I don't know how effective it will be. Time will tell!

I made a 5 x 5 chart with different genres in each box. They must choose
a row to work on getting bingo. After they read a book in that genre they
must write the title, author, and their AR score in the box. It is a
project grade. There are incentives for filling in extra boxes, getting a
"cover-all", and getting 100s on all of their AR tests. If a book is not
AR or they are reading magazine articles or poetry, I made a book form to
fill out with a couple of generic questions on it.

Each 9 weeks I have a different bingo card. Next quarter is subjects. I
have different subjects in the box (sports, animals, friends, family, war,
etc.). Third quarter I have authors. For the final one, I am going to
let them make their own cards. They can use a mixture of genres,
subjects, and authors.

I teach fourth grade and am hoping this will work. I was also trying to
find a way to make my students accountable for a certain number of books.
If this works, students would be reading at least 20 books throughout the
year but I am hoping that most will read many more than that trying to get
the extra incentives.
