Hi,
??I am teaching comprehension strategies to a group of fifth graders. ?They
seem to be abandoning more books than they are reading to completion. ?In
"Outliers," Malcolm Gladwell writes about 10,000 hours of practice as one of
the keys to success. ?I know that my students are not getting enough real
reading practice. ?Does anyone have any book suggestions for reluctant readers
of this age? ?They tend to choose books from series such as "Bones," "Diary of
a Wimpy Kid," and "Series of Unfortunate Events." ?Their comprehension is
slightly below grade level. ?I would love to put engaging, high-quality books
in their hands that they love so much they can't stop reading! ?Thanks for your
help with this endeavor. ?Susan ?MD
