First, thanks for all the comments and teaching strategies. My problem is
this: as a reading specialist, I am aware of many diagnostic assessments for
grades 3+ (ekwall shanker, flint cooter, etc) that are helpful for
finding patterns in reading problems and sheding light on a student's real
issue so I can fine tune my teaching to meet his needs.
This problem of rhyming and phonological issue in kdgn, is unlike anything
I've seen before in my 25 years. Obviously, I've stressed rhyming games and
literature, open response, etc. I just want an assessment that that offers
information similar to the above assessments for upper grades. Yes, I am
aware of Marie Clay (big fan, in fact) DRA, etc. I just want to offer some
explicit instruction in a sequencial fashion, based on a diagnostic
assessment. please help
