Jan, If you are thinking of DRA for 8th graders, understand that it will take 15-20 per student to conference then they will need to read and answer the questions in written form. This may take up to 45 min. The DRA will certainly give you diagnostic information that you can use in your teaching and is a great tool to help guide instruction. I believe the kits (DRA2 gr 4-8) are a bit pricey.
I'm a bit confused on using DIBELS at the middle school level though. I was just at an RtI workshop and they said after grade 3 the information was not as accurate or helpful. You may want to look at a Maze type of comprehension check, that may be more helpful at the higher level. Kelly AB My middle school will start RTI next year. The plan is that all students will get DIBELS as a screener, but only 6th graders (and maybe 7th graders) will get DRA as a diagnostic after the initial screening. _______________________________________________ Mosaic mailing list [email protected] To unsubscribe or modify your membership please go to http://literacyworkshop.org/mailman/options/mosaic_literacyworkshop.org.
