You may want to look at the following books: Cris Tovani's book, "I Read it But
I Don't Get it" and Kelly Gallagher has many ideas in "Deeper Reading". They
both focus on teaching comprehension at the secondary level.

Dear Faith:
I love Kelly Gallagher's book "Reading Reasons: Motivational Mini Lessons for
Middle and High School." This could give you a starting place from which to
develop your program. Every time I've used his material with kids they enjoy
it! Good luck!

Add* Lifers* by Pam Mueller to your list. The book is her doctoral thesis
and she gives tons of things to understand about older struggling readers.
SHe gives many ways toget them reading. It's worth every minute reading.

Hello All: hope your new year is going well. I will be introducing Partner
Reading and I used to have the best bookmarks that had guided questions on
them. Can't find my copy anywhere and have been looking on the web for over an
hour. If anyone has a copy they could forward to me--I would be immensely
appreciative.

I've sent these to the list before. These are for teachers but some of them
would work well for students. They correlate with strategy instruction.
