Our state (Wisconsin) encourages districts to offer 4 year old kindergarten.
My community and many offer it. It is a half day while regular kindergarten is
full day. By law, parents start students in school at the age of 6. They can
start first grade or kindergarten then.

change people's understanding of what's going on in the world.

Our state, Texas and possibly Arizona, are refusing parents the option of
students repeating kindergarten or starting late when parents feel their
children aren't ready for first grade. Are any other states having that
problem?

Where on the CD would I find the word sorts? I've reviewed the CD and am
confused as where the sorts are located. I'm compiling levels C-E for the 5th
grade teachers...I know I must be nuts...or a good friend. Please advise as to
where I find the sorts. Thanks, Sonny

Hi there are a few sorts in the back of the book, otherwise, there are seperate
books you purchase for the sorts - there is a book for each developmental level
of speller.

Our K-5 school is working on long term SMART Goals. Based on the data we
analyzed from our state tests and MAP scores, we need to improve our
students ability to analyze and extend their understanding of text. As a
staff, our next step is to research best practices to help us determine
the latest research that will help us address these needs of our students.

I know my favorite authors and websites, but I was wondering if you all
could give me suggestions that I could give to my colleagues to help them
focus their research study. Websites, journal articles, books would be
appreciated.

I trust the judgement of this group.

Thank you.

Sandy Stevens
