Andrea, we use Fountas and Pinnell's Phonics materials for grades K-2 and the Word Study for grade 3. These materials are available from Heinneman.

It aligns nicely with RTI's Tier 2 and 3 Wilson Reading (Remedial Reading and Special Eduation) for those students that struggle to meet benchmark. It has a home component and progress monitoring component so it is somprehensive. We use the Fountas/Pinnel word study piece. The teachers connect their words to their guided reading books. Each teacher uses the Bear Qualitative Inventory to determine what word study phase each child is in. ------------------------------ Message: 5 Date: Mon, 31 Jan 2011 14:15:20 -0600 From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]>, <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [MOSAIC] Important please!! It introduces letter and sounds as a "Superkid" character, integrating each superkid into reading and writing, and emphasizes blending the letter sounds all throughout the program. As a former first grade teacher, it really seems to work...and I'm usually skeptical of programs. ------------------------------ Message: 8 Date: Mon, 31 Jan 2011 14:27:16 -0800 From: "Keith Mack" <[email protected]> To: "'Mosaic: A Reading Comprehension Strategies Email Group'" <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [MOSAIC] Important please!! - Obvious email Scams Message-ID: <EA278AA3FFEC431FB531B19F0148447A@KEITHOFFICE> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" We've seen this type of message before and will likely seem them again. This is from a "hijacked" email account. The attacker takes over the user account and then uses the account in hopes of getting at least one (ahem) concerned friend/family to reply and send money which sometimes gets into the sending of even more money. Please don't waste your time and other's time by replying to this sort of obvious hoax or by trying to get authorities involved. The account owner is likely locked out of the account either by the hacker or by their provider. As always, all email users should use "high strength" passwords on their accounts to combat this type of attack. I have instigated some filters to catch most of these spam/scam messages, but we'll undoubtedly see more from time to time in the future. Once again, do yourself and others on our list a favor by totally ignoring this type of message. Now, please excuse me...I just got a message about collecting my 4.7 Million Euro winnings from a French lottery. ;-) Bonjour, Keith Mack Web Administrator http://www.literacyworkshop.org -----Original Message----- Who can we report the SCAM to? ----- Original Message ----- obviously this is spam ----- Original Message ----- Hi, I hope you get this message in time Sorry I didn't inform you about my trip to Africa Nigeria for a program,It was an emergency,I am currently in Africa Nigeria, something awful has happened to me !!!
