I have done this with a passage from a refrigeration text...  Very different 
and a passage explaining the rules to a game that was from another country.  No 
backgrond knowledge and unfamiliar vocab with technical language made 
understanding impossible.

Hi Jenna.  I just did this for a class I am taking in reading disabilities. 
I used Canterbury Tales.  It was very challenging because I could read many 
of the words but overall had no idea what it meant.  It was telling for 
being able to decode without comprehension and also a challenging in 
pronounciation.  It had everything!
