I would first ask to come and observe them during their reading time to
learn about where they are etc. Then ask what their reading levels
are... Also, I would ask what the focus of the lesson is, theme or
rhyme, etc. If they don't have a focus choose one: theme or rhyme or
alliteration, etc. Before the lesson, give the teacher a few points to
be looking for relating to your focus. These are some things that popped
into my mind. Hope they help, Maureen

Subject: [MOSAIC] Poetry Lesson for 4th Grade

Hi! I have a demo lesson for a 4th grade class. The only guidelines I
was given is to have a beginning/introductory lesson on poetry. I am not
exactly sure where I should start, as I have no idea what these students
have been taught, their reading levels, etc. Any ideas on how I can
tackle this task? I appreciate any/all advice you can give. Thanks!
