Hi All-
I teach reading methods course (4th - 8th grade) to Elementary Education
majors. I've been using Stephanie Harvey's book and Gail Thompson's book in
this course. What are teachers reading now to stay current with reading
instruction?

I am a reading teacher and I have been following Fountas and Pinnell and all
of their ideas and thoughts regarding reading. They are true researchers in
the field. I have many of their books...I have the new continuum of
literacy learning pre-k-8 that aligns nicely with the new core standards we
have out. Another good book by them is Teaching for Comprehending and
Fluency k-8. Hope this helps you.

I echo what dhouse said. Our district is using these 2 books (Fountas and
Pinnel: Guiding Readers and Writers) and Teaching for Comprehending and
Fluency K-8.
