You could do a mystery "theme". There is the Third Grade Detectives series by George Stanley. There are a LOT of other mysteries on a 3/4 grade reading level. You could do secret codes, finger printing, observation skills (show a picture with a lot of details for a minute or 2 have them write down everything they see, take it away and see if they can answer specific questions).

I will be teaching a summer course for 3/4 graders. I would like to use the reading writing workshop method but am not so familiar with the age group. I'll take suggestions on web cites, picture books, anything you can offer. Thank you all in advance, Ms. Devan Green 7th Grade Teacher of MA & LA House of the Phoenix 7th Grade Team Leader Frelinghuysen Middle School Morristown, NJ (973) 292-2200 Ex. 8015 _______________________________________________ Mosaic mailing list [email protected] To unsubscribe or modify your membership please go to http://literacyworkshop.org/mailman/options/mosaic_literacyworkshop.org.
