Johnston gives us several conversation starters to help us develop a dynamic 
learning mindset, in particular those with causal processes. 

"Look how you figured that out together, you made a plan...you listened to each 
other, you made a diagram...I don't think you would have figured it out without 
doing that."

Or sometimes with questioning we can focus students on processes: "How did you 
do that?" "How did you know that?"

But what I found really interesting was Johnston's suggestion that we also use 
language that equalizes the power structure...positioning children as teachers 
too. "Ask your partner how he did that..." and "Thanks for teaching us that." 

How important, do you think, is the equalization of power, to student's 
motivation and learning? What changes do you think, we would need to make in 
schooling to create this environment?
