"Spelling can be difficult because more than 60% of the English language doesn't follow the rules! HOW DO YOU TEACH THAT?" This is a common belief about English! However, English is such a layered language - pulling words from many different languages from different times in the history of its development. If you understand the source from where words are derived, why certain spellings are used with certain words (usually based on meaning and origin), and look into the etymology of words you will find it all makes sense! We can teach this to children, too - and discover these cool things about words together! Look into : www.wordworkskingston.com! Mary
