Ladies and gents, I am writing to let you know that the Mosaic listserv is about to undergo a huge change.
As the years have gone by, there has been a drop in interest. Some of this, I think, is due to changes in how schools are using the comprehension strategies, changes in social media (Listservs are not really the "in" thing any more) and the fact that just about everywhere teachers are being asked to do more with less. Time is at a premium...it's hard to keep up with reading posts let alone writing one. For whatever reason, our traffic has dwindled. Even attempts like handing out free Stenhouse books with the hopes that members would post about what they read, did not seem to work to get conversation going. Keith who has hosted us on his server will be closing down that server in a few days...and that will spell the end of our traditional way of communicating. I am working with him to find a home for our tools page and will let you know where that is going to be. I really don't want to see the wonderful network that we have established disappear. Instead, I am planning to take us to FaceBook....a new, reimagined Mosaic with perhaps a new and broader focus---comprehension strategies along with all the best practices related to reading instruction.
