Yep. I've just tried it. Setting the $SCRIPTS_ROOTDIR variable in the training script to the relative path of the scripts allows steps 3, 4, 5 and 6 to complete without error.
It's not a very portable solution though. It doesn't allow the user to call the script from wherever they please.
