Hi Sandra,
there's only very limited support for factored hierarchical models. It's a while since I tried it myself, but my understanding is that you can use multiple factors provided you stick to a single decoding path (i.e. you don't have separate rule tables for different factors) and you don't use any generation steps. But you should be able to train a model with separate n-gram models over surface forms and POS factors, for instance.

it is possible to combine factored models and hierarchical models. I.e.
can you run a system with factored training (POS) and the -hierarchical
option?
