Hi,

I had a small issue with the installation. While moses compiled ok using ./bjam , and i was able to train some models, whenever i tried the decoder to translate someting, it segfaulted immediately after loading the LMs and PTs. (the error came after the line with the "creating input/output object" - can't remember exactly now as i cannot reproduce it anymore). Seeing that the problem might be more devious than i could probably solve, i did what every windows user would do and i upgraded the system from ubuntu 11.04 to 11.10. Among other actions, the upgrade removed many boost libraries (1.42) and reinstalled some of them (to 1.46).

The interesting part is (and related to the mail thread) that while previously i could not compile moses with just "bjam", now i did, and it works ok (even the translation):

sdumitrescu /usr/local/trans/tools/moses > bjam --with-srilm=/usr/local/trans/tools/srilm --with-giza=/usr/local/trans/tools/mgiza/bin -a
...patience...
...found 1877 targets...
...updating 458 targets...
gcc.compile.c++ moses/src/bin/gcc-4.6.1/release/debug-symbols-on/link-static/threading-multi/FFState.o
(etc)

For reference:
sdumitrescu /usr/local/trans/tools/moses > bjam --version
Boost.Build V2 (Milestone 12)
Boost.Jam 03.1.19

Regards,
Stefan

i think that's the bjam that's installed by yum, rpm or whatever. Because moses won't compile when I type
   bjam
It must be
  ./bjam

The problem is this old website: http://www.boost.org/boost-build2/ .
The "Download" link yields a version from September 2007. This
    appears
to be what you have installed. Since September 2007, bjam is
distributed with the Boost tarball. The version distributed with
    Boost
is what the Jamfiles are based on and what I have copied into Moses.
