Interspeech 2013 Conference - First Call for Participation

with special focus on "Speech in Life Sciences and Human Societies"

Dear colleagues,

It is our great pleasure to announce the forthcoming edition of INTERSPEECH,
the annual conference of the International Speech Communication Association
(ISCA), which will be held in Lyon, France, 25-29 August 2013.

INTERSPEECH is the world's largest and most comprehensive conference on Spoken
Language Processing science and technology. This edition will be the 14th in
the annual series of Interspeech events and will coincide with the 25th
anniversary of ISCA, formerly known as ESCA, which was born in France in 1988.

INTERSPEECH 2013 is coordinated by AFCP (Association Francophone de la
Communication Parlée, i.e. the “French-speaking” Special Interest Group of
ISCA).
The conference will be hosted in the Lyon Convention Center, which offers
first-grade facilities in a very attractive city and region, at the heart of
Europe.

Speech is a fundamental human activity which runs across biology, medicine,
psychology, sociology, anthropology or ecology. It is central to the
organization and the development of human health, personality and intelligence.
It is also essential to the synergy within human groups and their relationship
with their environment.

Besides the conventional acoustic and linguistic viewpoints on speech
communication, all these related disciplines provide additional approaches to
speech as the keystone of communication, cognition and interaction in human
societies.

The conference will thus promote an interdisciplinary approach covering all
aspects of speech science and technology, ranging from fundamental
contributions to practical applications, in a wide variety of areas.

INTERSPEECH 2013 will consist of regular oral and poster sessions, plenary
talks by internationally renowned experts, tutorials, exhibits, special
sessions, show & tells and satellite events. INTERSPEECH papers are indexed in
ISI, Engineering Index, Scopus, and Google Scholar.

Our website will provide you with information and news including the various
calls, the important dates, instructions, programs, and all useful arrangements
for participating to the conference.

The INTERSPEECH 2013 Organizing Committee is actively engaged in the
preparation of the event and it will be a great honor and pleasure for the
French community in Speech Sciences to welcome you to INTERSPEECH 2013 in Lyon,
next summer.

Bien amicalement,

Frédéric Bimbot (Chair)
Cécile Fougeron (Co-Chair)
François Pellegrino (Co-Chair)
