Hey Prashant, I don't remember in details so rather than answering I'm pointing you to where you should be able to find some answers. The suffix array thing is Adam Lopez's pattern matching approach to SMT. If this paper http://www.aclweb.org/anthology/C/C08/C08-1064.pdf does not contain the answers you are looking for, I remember there was a section of his thesis dedicated to the aspect you are curious about.
