=================================================== CALL FOR TUTORIAL PROPOSALS COLING 2014 Dublin, Ireland, 23-29 August, 2014 http://www.coling-2014.org/ COLING 2014 (http://www.coling-2014.org/), the 25th International Conference on Computational Linguistics, is organised by CNGL (Centre for Global Intelligent Content) at the Helix Convention Centre at Dublin City University (DCU) and will be held on 23-29 August 2014. The COLING conference is organised under the auspices of the International Committee on Computational Linguistics (ICCL). The COLING conference has a history that dates back to the 1960s. The conference is held every two years and regularly attracts more than 600 delegates. The 1st conference was held in New York, 1965. Since then, the conference has developed into one of the premier Natural Language Processing conferences world-wide. The last five conferences were held in Geneva (COLING 2004), Sydney (COLING - ACL 2006), Manchester (COLING 2008), Beijing (COLING 2010) and Mumbai (COLING 2012). COLING covers a broad spectrum of technical areas related to natural language and computation. The conference will include full papers, oral presentations, poster presentations, demonstrations, tutorials, and workshops. Tutorial proposals are invited for the Tutorial Programme of COLING 2014. The tutorials will be held on 23-24 August 2014, the weekend preceding the main conference. Proposals for tutorials on all topics of computational linguistics and its applications are sought. Especially encouraged are cross-disciplinary tutorials that educate the community about recent technical advancements that are of interest to computational linguistics, or introduce relevant algorithms and theories that may be known to specialists in these areas but are still unfamiliar to part of the natural language processing community. The COLING 2014 organizers will set the fees, provide rooms, equipment, technical support, coffee and lunch breaks for all the tutorials, and pay a single sum to the tutorial instructors (to cover travel and accommodation, and which they split amongst themselves in case there are more than one instructors for one tutorial). The payment to instructors for each tutorial will be: * 1000 euro for half-day tutorial instructors from Europe * 1500 euro for full-day tutorial instructors from Europe * 1500 euro for half-day tutorial instructors from outside Europe * 1750 euro for full-day tutorial instructors from outside Europe In addition each tutorial comes with one free conference registration. SUBMISSION DETAILS Proposals for tutorials should contain: * A title and brief description of the tutorial content and its relevance to the COLING community (not more than 2 pages). * A brief outline of the tutorial structure showing that the tutorial's core content can be covered in a three-hour slot (including a coffee break). In exceptional cases, six-hour tutorial slots are available as well. * The names, postal addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses of the tutorial instructors, including a one-paragraph statement of their research interests and areas of expertise. * A list of previous venues and approximate audience sizes, if the same or a similar tutorial has been given elsewhere; otherwise an estimate of the audience size. * A description of special requirements for technical equipment (e.g., Internet access). Proposals should be submitted by electronic mail, in plain ASCII text or in pdf no later than 19 January 2014, to <tutorials at coling-2014 dot org>.
