Hi Asad The simple answer is that this is a commercial secret so no-one outside google really knows. However if you read the papers written by googlers, and observe the interface carefully, then you can gain a certain amount of insight. In particular, it's likely that Google translate is phrase-based, with pre-reordering for some languages.
Have a look here for some experiments with GT and en-cs.
