Great. I am quite convinced that the suffix was required earlier, seems
to be some refactoring effect. I will update the documentation accordingly.

Yeah I agree the error message should be clearer. Also the .minphr
extension is put as part of the moses config line in moses page
illustrating the use of the compact phrase table, and the instruction
says "specify the WHOLE file name of the phrase table:". I think this
should be fixed.

phrase table to compact format using processPhraseTableMin:
mosesdecoder/bin/processPhraseTableMin -in phrase-table.gz
-out phrase-table -nscores 4 -threads 4
When the phrase table is loaded during translation an
exception is raised:
Loading table into memory...Exception: vector::_M_range_check
