Webcam is working, motion detection is working, files are stored.
But somehow on_motion_detected directive stopped working (until few days
ago all worked perfectly).

Line in my config file:

on_motion_detected echo "`date +%Y.%m.%d-%T`" >> /home/pi/motion/email.txt
&& /home/pi/scripts/motion_detected_wejscie.sh >> /var/log/motion/`date
+%Y.%m.%d`.log

If I run my script manually (just via
/home/pi/scripts/motion_detected_wejscie.sh) everything is working.
Pictures made by motion are sent to my e-mail.

I don't know how it's possible but on_motion_detected doesn't work for me
anymore.

Please help.

Best regards
Mariusz Ciszewski

Try putting your command into script file, add #!/bin/bash as first line
and make file executable.
Then change your config to on_motion_detected /home/pi/myscript.sh
Does it make any difference?

Hi there,

I'd like to set the webcam web streaming with normal image while now I get
only the ghost images and also the label are wrong, I get the thread number
instead of the cam name.

Is there a way to secure with password the web streaming as the
configuration done?

I can't get any motion detected can it depends on the image size (320x240)
or the frame per second value?

Thank you so much!

Riccardo

Hello everybody,

I've setup motion with a Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000. Everything is working
fine, except for one thing : when the light is harsh, quite often the white
color of the overexposed areas is changed to some pink. After a while it
reverts back to white , and then turns pink and so on...
As a result, I've got many captures of the same scene with only
"artificial" color variations (no real motion).

For better understanding, here are two pictures captured by motion:
http://s5.postimg.org/scbt8r893/20141221_105951_09_01.jpg
http://s5.postimg.org/fsugq8o7b/20141221_105343_08_00.jpg
And my motion.conf file:
http://pastebin.com/SUcyTcNr

What are the settings I could change in order to get rid of these
white/pink color variations ?

Regards,
Sylvain

Hello altogether.

This is my first post to this list, so please let me introduce shortly.
Im coming from electronics, being used to program in C/C++, mainly
microcontrolers, have very few linux experience?.
I found motion because of a raspberry project, where I want to use the
raspberry camera for a panoramic view.
After reading many pages it is working largely. Many thanks for your work :-)

Some questions are left.
Is it possible to use only a part of the image for working? Caused by my
panoramic mirror I have large areas of the camera sensor which are not used.
The Raspberry is hardly able to work on the complete 2592?1944 pixels. If I use
smaller resolutions, the hole image is scaled. ca 600*600 in the middle would
be best for my project. Ive search the code and found nothing to crop the
image. Is the a possibility to config the v4l device accordingly?
Ive tested mask_file but this seems to further slow down the hole thing.

The second one is not this important but irritating.
My installation is only working when i start motion in setup mode.
I tried everything mentioned regarding EXPORT LD_PRELOAD
(http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=50639&start=100)
But no success. When I start without -s there is a syslog message
?.
Jan 4 08:05:50 raspberrypi motion: [1] #011"zoom factor", default 0, current 1
Jan 4 08:05:50 raspberrypi motion: [1] ioctl (VIDIOCGCAP): Invalid argument
?

starting 'motion -s? (with the same config file) is working and gives the
following lines:
Jan 4 08:06:20 raspberrypi motion: [1] #011"zoom factor", default 0, current 1
Jan 4 08:06:20 raspberrypi motion: [1] mmap information:
?
Any hints to get this fixed?

Many thanks in advance.

Greetings Klaus

I went around in circles for a while trying to find the right URL to use with a
Hikvision DS-2CD3332-I camera (firmware v5.2) and Motion.? To save others
having to work it out for themselves, the config below worked for me.
The example assumes a user named "viewer", with the password "12345" and having
"Remote: Live View" rights.? The camera IP address is 10.0.0.20.

The default camera resolution is 1920x1080.? This resolution will cause motion
to barf with the warning:???? [1] netcam image height (1080) is not modulo 16

I couldn't find a reliable source of a patch to fix this - there seems to be
something on Github, but it looks like it has been withdrawn, or just causes
Motion to output the warning instead of crashing.? Change the camera resolution
up to 2048x1536 or down to 1280x720 and you won't encounter the error/warning.

motion.conf:
???? netcam_url http://10.0.0.20/Streaming/Channels/1/picture
???? netcam_userpass viewer:12345
????
???? width 1280
???? height 720
