Thanks. Where will I find the log file?
Or was I supposed to set up its location in one of the conf files prior?

I can't remember if motion writes log to file, amswering from phone. Only
know for sure it can output to stdout or syslog.

Hi,
Is on market any doorbell or access control system (on the box) who allow
motion get video from it?

I want setup pedestrian gate control on fence perimeter (concrete pole) and
extra get video from built-in cam on motion.

I'm using motion's web streaming and it's working great. The motion detection,
not so great so I have turned it off. I have door switches and was hoping to
trigger an image capture from the door switches.

Q: Is there a way to trigger motion to save a JPG (without using motion
detection)? Ping a port? Send a command to the running daemon?

You can trigger snapshot through the web control interface:

curl -s http://localhost:8000/0/action/snapshot > /dev/null
