Hello,

Which resolution can be set at motion with Rpi3 and Cam V2?
The only resolution work by me is 1632x1232.
Where does this resolution come from, I find in the documents no evidence.

regards
ThomasD

Hi,
I've spent a lot of time wondering and researching the same problem. My
biggest issue is to discover the best resolution which will also give
the biggest field of view.

In any case, I use mjpg_streamer (which streams to motion on another
computer) with this resolution:
  -x 1392 -y 1040

I've also got a "test" rpi running motion locally which is working with
this:
width 1536
height 864

I'll give your values a try in the next few days, and see if that
provides a better solution... Please do share again if you find better
resolutions that will work...

Regards,
Adam

Does raspi cam follow V4L standards? If so you can query available formats
by running:

apt-get install v4l-utils
v4l2-ctl --list-formats-ex

If some of the listed resolutions does not work for you - please share what
kind of error do you get

I don't believe it uses V4L.

raspi cam is a quite separate interface; motion faithfully follows the native
raspicam tools.

See https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/usage/camera/raspicam/README.md
etc.
