autoreconf -i made the configure file without errors, but
,/configure
configure: error: Required package 'pkg-config' not found, please check
motion_guide.html and install necessary dependencies.

I never used automake, but this is what I get when I run it after
autoreconf -i
# automake
configure.ac: error: no proper invocation of AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE was found.
configure.ac: You should verify that configure.ac invokes AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE,
configure.ac: that aclocal.m4 is present in the top-level directory,
configure.ac: and that aclocal.m4 was recently regenerated (using aclocal)
automake: error: no 'Makefile.am' found for any configure output

So it is still complaining about not finding pkg-config. I don't use
Fedora but googling suggests there may be some differences on Fedora
about the package name (pkgconfig apparently) and where it gets
installed, but I think you may need some input from a Fedora user.

I did a git clone from Mr. Dave's Github instead of downloading the source
and then it compiled for me. It seems to be working now. Sorry for jumping
to the conclusion that motion-4.0.1-5.fc27.x86_64 worked.

Thanks for your help
