I have struggled with this for years.

Short answer, IMHO, is there is no way to ignore light intensity changes.
I've tried every lightswitch value in the book and none of them work to my
satisfaction.

The best approach is to do as Gordon says. Create a mask file and apply
it.

If you're tracking light changes in a bird house, you might get good
results from this. I monitor the road in front of my house with the great
beyond behind it. I've determined my situation is hopeless.

The problem, as I understand it, has to do with motion having to use pixel
changes to determine motion. So, out of the box, a program that depends on
pixel changes from one frame to the next is going to have difficulty
filtering out the effects of light intensity changes, like a cloud moving
over the landscape.

I would love if someone could prove me wrong! :-)

Hi, everyone

Thank you very much for giving me a lot of advice to motion beginners.

I will try lightswitch and mask_file.
