Short answer, IMHO, is there is no way to ignore light intensity changes. I've tried every lightswitch value in the book and none of them work to my satisfaction. The best approach is to do as Gordon says. Create a mask file and apply it. If you're tracking light changes in a bird house, you might get good results from this. I monitor the road in front of my house with the great beyond behind it. I've determined my situation is hopeless. The problem, as I understand it, has to do with motion having to use pixel changes to determine motion. So, out of the box, a program that depends on pixel changes from one frame to the next is going to have difficulty filtering out the effects of light intensity changes, like a cloud moving over the landscape.
