Which codec have you specified for timelapse?
Try to set ffmpeg_bps 40000000 or any higher number - do you get different
quality?

I have read that default was 400'000 so I have tried 4'000'000 but not
 40'000'000
as suggested.
Now I need to find a good value!

One thing to keep in mind is that currently that config bitrate value is
shared between timelapse and ffmpeg movies. See more details here:
