Does anyone know of a good wireless (WiFi, could use BT if necessary) camera
that is battery powered?

We are in a remote location with NO external / cloud service. Purchased a GoPro
to use, but the WiFi they use only uses their app in full 4K, and it's not real
stand alone; it apparently synchronizes with their web. I was told it's low
resolution video only even on the older GoPro's.

I think I saw a dongle that you could use with regular USB Webcams that would
present as WiFi; this would work also if we had one of those car starter USB
battery packs as well.

HI ,

Newbie, just installed Motion and a quick test with a very old
webcam(its all I had)-success. Thanks for the app.

Now I want to play a bit deeper but swamped by the very many RTSP
cameras around.
Does anyone have any prior dealings with some eaby ones I can play? with
just to get my feet wet?

At the moment just want to stream video of the backyard onto a PC in the
house. Would be nice to grab that and motion detect msg on my android
phone but I think thats a step up for just yet.

Im hoping for now once its streaming to my PC I can ssh into it from
anywhere/other pc and view/interrogate it.

Im just concerned about this cloud stuff which Ive read can make the cam
useless unless you buy in to their cloud, so not sure which ones dont
have all that nonsense.

I have plenty of cat5/6 cable throughout the place and could easily
arrange POE or local power.

wifi is a complication I can do with out for the moment but so many of
them have it now so as long as I can utp in Im fine/can ignore the wifi?

some I have come across:

Can you not get an ethernet cable over and use Power over Ethernet? PoE
works up to 100 metres.
