I don't know how development packages are installed in Slackware, in
Ubuntu I use this command:

apt-get install autoconf automake build-essential pkgconf libtool
libzip-dev libjpeg-dev git libavformat-dev libavcodec-dev
libavutil-dev libswscale-dev libavdevice-dev libwebp-dev
libmicrohttpd-dev autopoint

There is also alternative to build ffmpeg from sources and use it with motion:
https://github.com/Motion-Project/motion/wiki/ffmpeg/705cc577cdda876f06079ff5caea3b41e94e066e

Can you share what exactly patch you used for debugging and what
exactly wrong do you see there?
