Problem viewing MOV files under IOS 14 (Theo Molenaar) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Message: 1 Date: Tue, 20 Oct 2020 16:51:45 +0200 From: Theo Molenaar <t.molen...@hccnet.nl> To: Motion-user@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: [Motion-user] Problem viewing MOV files under IOS 14 Message-ID: <d5aaa713-6d9e-4251-b1d0-176490426...@hccnet.nl> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 Hello Motion-users, I am using Motion 4.2 on a Raspberry Pi 3B+ with 2 cameras. Movie codec is mov, the generated files are sent to a webserver where they can be viewed. This has worked fine for some years, I could view the files on my iPad and iPhone via Safari. Since IOS 14 this is not possible anymore, I get a broken ?play? sign (triangle with a backward slash) indicating that there is something wrong with the files. However, the same files can be played on my desktop (MacOS, Safari) and on an old iPad (IOS 9) without a problem. I have upgraded motion (+ ffmpeg) to the latest version (Motion 4.3.1+git20201011-5f02e45) but that does not help. At first I thought it was an enhanced privacy setting in IOS, but when I put some mov files from my digital camera on my webserver, my iPhone (with IOS 14) has no problems showing them. Which makes me think that motion-generated MOV files are not 100% compatible with Apple's standard for QuickTime. This was not a problem with IOS 13 and lower but apparently Apple has modified QuickTime in IOS 14 in such a way that MOV files from motion are not accepted anymore. Has anybody faced the same problem? Any ideas what is going wrong and how to overcome this?
