I'm getting the same problems with the camera FoscamFI9800P as I had 
with logitech USB cam

it works fine on Motion 4.0 on a odroid C2 on Ubuntu 18.04LTS kernel 3.16

whereas on Motion 4.o on a Odroid XU4 , octal core , running Ubuntu 
20.04LTS Kernel 5.4

all that I get is the grey screen with unable to connect

Exactly the same config for this cam was copied from the the C2 to the 
XU4, they were both running Motion 4.0

, I have upgraded Motion on the XU4 to 4.2.2 but exactly the same

Strange
