+1 I'm interested in recording camera audio as well, but don't know much
about the technology. Is it possible to have motion trigger recording
of an audiovisual stream alongside it's own use of the camera? Always
assuming the camera itself is capable of such a feat.

I agree, is there a place to make the request to have audio included? I am
in the process of pulling out coax and putting in cat7. I have 6 cameras
that have audio capabilities.

Q: Does / will Motion support audio recording?
A: Not for the foreseeable future. In addition to the technical
complexities and legal implications(covert recording of audio is not
permitted in many countries), the maintainer believes in making sure
the application keeps the focus on its core functionality of video.
If anyone wishes to develop and maintain audio code (that can be
turned off by config or at compile time) - you can submit your pull
request for review
