All of my motion is done with pictures takes at 2-4 fps. The framerate is high enough that played back quickly it will show you exactly what went on. And the cheaper cams I have don't seem to have good network buffers so often lose bytes here and there causing artifacts but with http+jpeg that does not seem to be an issue. I believe the video streams are using unreliable UDP vs the jpegs using TCP.
