Hi
back again with a problem
I had a ipcam go down and I replaced it with Foscam G4P,
unfortunately it doesn't support rstp, so a case of using http with
motion.
Foscam dont support linux, a pain but their ipcams are RF quiet.

I'm stuck on the url suffix
you can see the 2 previous cameras . I can only log into this camera
with windows and it doesn't show the whole url, and as there is no rstp
support I can't check with VLC
The stream is listed as "Main stream" on the windows login,
I have tried /mainstream /Mainstream /videomain and a few others but
its not playing

in motion.conf
;netcam_url http://192.168.1.72:7777/videostream.cgi
;netcam_url rtsp://192.168.1.142:554/videoMain
netcam_url http://192.168.1.158:88/MainStream <<<<<<<<<<

In android app IP Cam Viewer it accepts
 http://192.168.1.158 port 88

Has anyone got one of these working with motion
the log shows
tail /var/log/motion/motion.log
[1:ml1] [ERR] [VID] [Feb 09 19:09:10] vid_start: Netcam failed to open
[1:ml1] [WRN] [ALL] [Feb 09 19:09:10] motion_init: Could not fetch

[1:ml1] [WRN] [ALL] [Feb 09 19:09:10] motion_init: Motion continues

[1:ml1] [WRN] [ALL] [Feb 09 19:09:10] mlp_retry: Retrying until
successful connection with camera
[1:ml1] [CRT] [NET] [Feb 09 19:09:10] netcam_start: libjpeg
decompression failure on first frame - giving up!
[1:ml1] [ERR] [VID] [Feb 09 19:09:10] vid_start: Netcam failed to open
[1:ml1] [CRT] [NET] [Feb 09 19:09:11] netcam_start: libjpeg

[1:ml1] [WRN] [ALL] [Feb 09 19:09:11] motion_init: Motion continues

any ideas.
At least I was able to fix the camera that went down , so worst case I
can put that one back and just use this one somewhere it wont matter
too much
TIA

Try it on Linux with Opera, Chrome, or Firefox.? The camera stream is
probably MJPEG and should work with one of those browsers.

I've tried that, and it goes straight to the camera login and complains
it needs plugins, only on windows, but of course as who ever wrote
their software doesn't realise thisas they refuse to support linux, but
they do support MAC,, not very logical :(
