As a side note I had an issue here with the restart option not working:
the update was not taking effect.? Using stop followed by start worked.?
(Since then I upgraded both the OS and Motion.)
One can also use /sudo systemctl status|stop|start motion/ .

Hi Spencer, Steward, Barry and other friend who helped me
Thank you for your kind messages and infos. They are precious and I'll
check all these settings in the motion.conf and try the commands for start
and stop. I'll give feedback when I'll get motion working like I want.
In fact, I'd like to be able to use it sometimes for recording videos, and
sometimes just as streamer in order to see the images but without recording.
