segfaults should not happen normally. those indicate about either a
bug in motion, or a serious problem in your hardware
What is the hardware you are using?
Is it a x64 machine or a raspberry arm?
How much RAM?
What model of usb camera?
What are other cameras?
What is the total number of cameras?
Can you share your full configs?

Many thanks for all the help.
I am using an HP Desktop, with 16G RAM (most of which is unused), an
Intel i7-6700 processor and 256G HD.
I run Ubuntu 20.04, and I have a total of 7 cameras, one USB (very old -
640x480 from memory), and the other cameras are IP based.
I am not aware of any issues with the config files, and the crashes seem
to random - I have now had almost a day without a crash - but the
previous few days were littered with crashes, and all seemed similar.
If I can be convinced Motion won't crash, I will look to be more reliant
on it!
My sincere thanks again.
Kind Regards,
