I have some Lorex E841CA-E bullet ip cameras. I have the *computer time and the camera time* displayed on the videos, also visible when I use motion to stream_localhost at 1fps. The camera uses ntp to set the time with the computer so they are synced. If I set the frame rate on the camera and motion.conf at 25fps the camera time keeps falling behind the computer time and the recorded videos jump sometimes. If I set the framerate on the camera at 25fps and the motion.conf at 30fps the times sink almost perfectly and mediainfo says the videos are 28fps. This seems to work well, but why? mediainfo 20:24.mp4 General Complete name : 20:24.mp4 Format : MPEG-4 Format profile : JVT Codec ID : avc1 (isom/avc1) File size : 3.06 MiB Duration : 1 s 642 ms Overall bit rate : 15.6 Mb/s *Frame rate : 28.000 FPS* Encoded date : 2024-01-04 01:24:50 UTC Tagged date : 2024-01-04 01:24:50 UTC Video ID : 1 Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format profile : Constrained Baseline@L5 Format settings : 1 Ref Frames Format settings, CABAC : No Format settings, Reference frames : 1 frame Codec ID : avc1 Codec ID/Info : Advanced Video Coding Duration : 1 s 642 ms Bit rate : 15.6 Mb/s Maximum bit rate : 17.1 Mb/s Width : 2 688 pixels Height : 1 520 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate mode : Constant *Frame rate : 28.000 FPS* Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 8 bits Scan type : Progressive Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.137 Stream size : 3.06 MiB (100%) Writing library : x264 core 164 r3108 31e19f9 Encoding settings : cabac=0 / ref=1 / deblock=0:0:0 / analyse=0:0 / me=dia / subme=0 / psy=1 / psy_rd=1.00:0.00 / mixed_ref=0 / me_range=16 / chroma_me=1 / trellis=0 / 8x8dct=0 / cqm=0 / deadzone=21,11 / fast_pskip=1 / chroma_qp_offset=0 / threads=9 / lookahead_threads=1 / sliced_threads=0 / nr=0 / decimate=1 / interlaced=0 / bluray_compat=0 / constrained_intra=0 / bframes=0 / weightp=0 / keyint=250 / keyint_min=25 / scenecut=0 / intra_refresh=0 / rc=crf / mbtree=0 / crf=23.0 / qcomp=0.60 / qpmin=0 / qpmax=69 / qpstep=4 / ip_ratio=1.40 / aq=0 Encoded date : 2024-01-04 01:24:50 UTC Tagged date : 2024-01-04 01:25:52 UTC Codec configuration box -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Wed, 3 Jan 2024 20:26:02 -0800 From: rmbusy <rmbusy+mot...@gmail.com> To: Harlan Daneker <hdane...@gmail.com> Cc: Motion discussion list <motion-user@lists.sourceforge.net> Subject: Re: [Motion-user] Strange frame rate Message-ID: <f23708ac-f08f-e59b-b8e1-e92490016...@gmail.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8"; Format="flowed" That's very interesting, as I have been seeing what sounds like the same issue with some IP bullet style cameras, but I'm using snapshot mode (1 picture per second).? If I'm watching the motion live output with the browser, things in the video will continually slow way down, then after about 30 to 45 seconds, jump back to live, then repeat.? I thought it was something to do with snapshot mode though. -- Rob. On 1/3/24 19:46, Harlan Daneker wrote: > motion 4.6.0+git20231111-7b85a24??
