Made a quick trip to the Old Cedar bridge in Bloomington tonight. It was quiet overall, particularly so in the woods west of the parking lot, but an early Marsh Wren sang along the boardwalk at 8:00 PM.
5 Horned Grebes were barely visible along the south side of Long Meadow Lake, along with a few Redhead and the other usual suspects, and 15 Ruddy Ducks. One Green Heron was in the marsh on the east side of the bridge. Sora and Swamp Sparrows sounded off frequently. As did the hordes of coots. If the man who was looking for Barn Swallow happens to see this: I hope you got your bird--at about 7:45 a Barn Swallow flew over the boardwalk, singing.
