Hey birders! The last couple of days have been very nice for raptor migration here in Mankato.
Here are the highlights from the nine species seen: Dark-phase Red-tailed Hawk yesterday afternoon. This bird was so dark that I initially thought it was a Turkey Vulture in an odd glide position. Binoculars revealed the red tail though. Multiple Peregrine Falcons including a single bird which may be considering residency since it has perched on and off again atop the cell phone towers south of Bethany Lutheran College's campus for the last couple of weeks. Other species: Sharp-shinned, Cooper's, Broad-winged, Turkey Vulture, Bald Eagle, Merlin, American Kestrel Yellow-rumped Warblers are really starting to increase in number too in the area. Happy Birding! Chad Heins Mankato, MN __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! SiteBuilder - Free, easy-to-use web site design software http://sitebuilder.yahoo.com
