Shortly before 6:00 PM today, I spotted a male Yellow-headed Blackbird flying over my yard in Duluth. I was so astonished that I neglected to train my binoculars on two more blackbirds flying in the same direction, but they appeared to be about the same size and shape. This species is considered a rare fall migrant along the North Shore of Lake Superior.
