EXPERIENCED HAWKWATCHER is needed to conduct a daily, standardized hawk migration count at Hawk Ridge, Duluth Minnesota from 1 September to 31 October and perhaps into November. Season counts have ranged between forty thousand to over one hundred thousand raptors comprised of 16 different species, plus a variety of other avian migrants. There can be spectacular flights of Broad-winged Hawks and Sharp-shinned Hawks in September and Red-tailed Hawks, Northern Goshawks and Bald Eagles in October. An ability to maintain a high level of concentration and a superior ability to make in-flight raptor identifications is needed. Salary depends on experience, but will be in the $900-$1200/mon range.
