Birding Buddies --

Thanks for all the suggestions. They were all plausible, from the Orchard
Oriole to the female Bobolink. What seems most likely, given the bird's
uniform and bright yellowness -- and factoring in the persistence of vision
at the outer edges of visual perception when viewing moving objects -- is
that it was an especially large and self-confident American Goldfinch.
