Hello, bird folks: Today was raptorius in the northwest corner of St. Paul:
@ sharp-shinned hawk perched in a boulevard tree at 10:30 a.m., then roared off at about knee-level after some sparrows; @ 2 adult bald eagles standing on the ice on Lake Como at 11 a.m.; @ then, and this is the somewhat unbelievable part, a large falcon, which I believe was a peregrine, swooped down and buzzed the eagles, then buzzed the ducks in the open section of the lake, and then landed on the ice, near a dark mound of something frozen into the ice. After about a minute, this bird took off, but the eagles remained. Val Cunningham St. Paul, Minn., Ramsey County
