Yes, I stopped at ELF after work, and John Hockema was just coming back from
the far edge. He told me about the probable Long-tailed Duck, and we scanned
with our scopes for a while before re-finding it. It was at the far
east-south-east edge, and diving almost continuously, so it was hard to get a
good look. After several looks I could see the white on the head, with a dark
patch on the side of the head; black on the back with some lighter curving back
. Strong contrast between the dark rear back and the white under tail, with
dark flank and breast. I was not able to see the long tail, but it was quite
distant and up for just glimpses.

That flood control reservoir sure has changed the waterfowl we can see in the
Rochester area!
