Watched a Gray Catbird working our rain-soaked,
beat-up old suet cake out in the backyard this morning
about 0800. Bird returned a few minutes later with a
similar friend, and they were still at it when I
headed in to campus about 0840. First sighting this
season, and birdguides say, "frequently heard, but
rarely seen." Did not hear either bird utter a peep,
but watched them from about 15 feet away....
