I got a taste of northern Minnesota around noon today when I observed a Red Crossbill flying over campus here at Gustavus Adolphus in St. Peter. I first heard the bird giving frequent call notes in flight and then spotted it flying overhead. It could have been feeding in the many pine stands on campus. The hill upon which the campus sits has turned out to be quite an interesting flyway. Good birding! -Bob Dunlap, Nicolett County
