All, I have posted a resizable map of SaxZim with the latest information as I know it of where Owls have been spotted in SaxZim. I will update it tomorrow with locations from this weekend (I created it in Visio which I don't have here at home). Also will add the Blue Spruce Rd Loop onto the map (I didn't patrol this area) The scale by the way is just approxiamate. I tried to get as close to correct as possible with the scale, but some of the smaller roads and such will be out of scale i'm sure. The map is located at http://www.avianphotos.org/SaxZim/SaxZim.htm. Additions and details related to the map from todays sightings are as follows:
Cty 213: Northern Hawk Owl 3.1mi S of Cty 27. Cty 788: Northern Hawk Owl 4.9mi S of Cty 27. (Also one at 4.0mi S. Probably the same two that Ben Yokel saw at 3.8mi and 3.9mi S). Cty 788: Great Grey Owl 3.2mi S of Cty 27 (Probably the same one seen by Ben Yokel at 3.6mi S. Not the light phase one though. I didn't see it and didn't hear of it being seen). Hwy 52: Northern Hawk Owl 2.4mi E of Hwy7 (1.4mi E of Peary Rd which is St Louis Cty 755) Hwy 7: Great Grey Owl 5.5mi N of Hwy 7. Didn't see any of the 4 reported Hawk Owls, but that doesn't mean they weren't there. I wasn't on Hwy7 long. Hwy 53 Hawk Owls: Saw the ones at MM43 and MM44. Did not see one beyond MM44. Moberg Rd: Didn't see any Owls along this Rd. Randall Rd: Didn't see any Owls along this Rd. (Patrolled this and Randall only briefly for about 1 mile looking for the owls Ben Yokel reported. Did not see the Hawk Owl reported by Karen Sussman at MM33 on Hwy53. Did not patrol Hwy 133, but a Barred Owl was seen by the couple from Missouri early this morning roughly 3mi west of the intersection of Hwy7 and Hwy133 right next to the side of the road on Hwy133.
